IONBIKE 2.0 partners met at IMIL2024
25/11/2024
IMIL2024 , the 7th edition of the Iberoamerican Meeting on Ionic Liquids, was recently held in Coimbra, Portugal.
This event was co-organised by IONBIKE 2.0 partner University of Coimbra and it provided great interaction opportunities for researchers engaged in various facets of ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents and associated ionic structures.
Representatives from partners UC (Portugal), UPV/EHU-POLYMAT (Spain), DEAKIN (Australia), CONICET-UNL (Argentina) and UAM (Mexico) gathered at this networking event to share their knowledge.
Congratulations to Naroa Lopez on getting her PhD
08/11/2024
We´re thrilled to announce that PhD candidate Naroa Lopez Larrea from UPV/EHU-POLYMAT successfully defender her thesis entitled “Multifunctional and 3D printable pedot- based materials for bioelectronics“, performed under the supervision of Prof. David Mecerreyes and Dr. Nerea Casado.
The two secondments that Naroa did as part of our former IONBIKE RISE project enabled her to get an International Thesis minor at UPV/EHU.
Sahika Inal, who hosted Naroa while at KAUST (Saudi Arabia), was part of Naroa’s PhD evaluation committee.
Prof. Cristina Pozo-Gonzalo returns to DEAKIN
07/11/2024
Following her previous secondment earlier this year, Cristina Pozo-Gonzalo from ICB-CSIC (Spain) is back at DEAKIN University this month. This time to focus on the electrochemistry and physical properties of new borates salts in organic media.
Home, sweet home
24/10/2024
Antonela Gallastegui, a Postdoctoral Candidate at POLYMAT-UPV/EHU (Spain), is happy to be back to CONICET-Universidad de Rio Cuarto in Argentina, where she is originally from.
Antonella (centre) is depicted here with Gonzalo Cagnetta and Emilia Zambroni, former IONBIKE project secondees, whom she spent time with in 2022 and 2023 during their secondments at POLYMAT, Spain.
During her stay, Antonela will be developing bio-based poly(ionic liquid)s from deep eutectic monomers for healing applications.
IONBIKE secondees’ reunion at Universidad de Rio Cuarto
18/10/2024
Tijs Lap, a final year Doctoral Candidate at POLYMAT-UPV/EHU (Spain), is currently spending six weeks at CONICET-Universidad de Rio Cuarto in Argentina.
Tijs is delighted to meet again with former IONBIKE project secondees Gonzalo Cagnetta, Emilia Zambroni and Rocío N. Abalos whom he spent time with in 2022 and 2023 during their secondments at POLYMAT, Spain.
Yuliana Pairetti visits CONICET-Universidad de Rio Cuarto
02/09/2024
Yuliana Pairetti, a Doctoral Candidate at POLYMAT-UPV/EHU (Spain), is spending a month research stay at CONICET-Universidad de Rio Cuarto in Argentina. During her visit, she is carrying out additional characterisations of protic ionic polymer membranes, which were synthesized at her home institution. These membranes are intended for applications in the energy sector, and her work aims to further refine their properties and enhance their potential for energy-related technologies.
POLYMAT welcomes Emmanuel Odella
14/08/2024
Emmanuel Odella, a Posdoctoral Candidate at Universidad de Rio Cuarto-CONICET (Argentina), is currently in Spain for a 5-month stay at University of the Basque Country-POLYMAT. He is researching the development of conjugated polymer nanoparticles for 3D printing applications, as well as the synthesis of new eutectogels.
